ALPHA PHI INT. STATEMENT
Alpha Phi is committed to providing education and resources that build cultural competence and to actively engage in conversations that challenge one another to uphold the highest tenants of Human Dignity. As Alpha Phis, we expect our members to live up to our high ideals and to show the best qualities of character by being fair, inclusive and supportive, which is exemplified through the work of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion department.
BETA SIGMA STATEMENT
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are an integral part of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of Utah. Alpha Phi recognizes and celebrates each member's diverse backgrounds and complex identities. We are actively working on revising and improving our recruitment processes, educational practices, and chapter bylaws to reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we incorporate these modifications, we are dedicated to holding our members accountable for upholding these standards.
DIVERSITY.
The Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi defines DIVERSITY as the blending of different identities. Identity can be further defined as the collective aspect of the set of characteristics by which a person is definitively recognized or known.
INCLUSION.
The Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi defines INCLUSION as creating an environment of open participation from all individuals.
EQUITY.
The Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi defines EQUITY as fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people.
WHY THIS MATTERS.
This enables us to empower members, value humanity, and equip change agents who can dismantle systems. We are creating a space where authentic, original voices can speak for themselves whenever possible.
